Things to Consider When Purchasing an Air Compressor

Air compressors are used in all aspects of production. When a factory needs to upgrade and purchase a new, energy-efficient air compressor, or for personal use, you need to carefully consider the compressor's various parameters, configurations, type, and model.

This article will provide a detailed guide on how to choose a cost-effective air compressor that best meets your needs.

1. Choosing an Air Compressor Type
Screw air compressors: Suitable for medium-volume and pressure applications, they offer smooth operation and high energy efficiency.

Piston air compressors: Suitable for small-scale, low-pressure applications, they offer high cost-effectiveness but are noisy.

Centrifugal air compressors: Suitable for large-volume and high-pressure applications, they offer high efficiency but are bulky and have high maintenance costs.

2. Energy Efficiency
Evaluate energy efficiency by using the Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) or specific power (kW/m³/min). Prioritize models with energy-saving technologies such as variable frequency drives and intelligent control.

3. Core Parameters
For every 0.1 MPa increase in operating pressure, energy consumption increases by 7%. It is recommended to configure the air volume to be 1.15-1.3 times the peak demand. For scenarios with air volume fluctuations exceeding 26%, a combination of a mains frequency compressor and a variable frequency compressor is recommended.

4. Air Compressor Quality Inspection
You can have your factory's engineering and technical personnel focus on inspecting the compressor head, motor, and control system. Ensure the RS485 communication interface is installed. Verify that the production date on the equipment nameplate is consistent with the customs declaration.

5. Supplier Qualifications
Can the supplier provide necessary certifications such as CE, TUV, and ISO90001 to prevent customs clearance issues? Also, consider the factory's expertise and responsiveness, as well as the after-sales support provided.
