What is the difference between a pre-filter and a post-filter?

The difference between a pre-filter and a post-filter of an air compressor is mainly reflected in the installation location, filtration accuracy, filtration object and purpose of use.


1. Pre-filter
The pre-filter is located between the gas tank and the refrigerated dryer. It performs preliminary filtration on the compressed air entering. The pre-filter can effectively remove coarse particles and impurities such as moisture in the air. Prevent the dryer from affecting efficiency due to excessive impurities

The filtration accuracy of the pre-filter is not high, and the filtration accuracy is about 3~40 microns. Although the filtration accuracy of the pre-filter is not high, it still plays an important role in the entire air compressor system.

2. Post-filter

It is often installed at the outlet of the air compressor. The post-filter is also called a post-treatment filter. It further filters impurities such as tiny particles and moisture in the compressed air to ensure the dryness and purity of the compressed air

The filtration accuracy of the post-filter is generally 0.01-1 microns. The post-filter plays a key role in the compressed air system, greatly improving the quality of the compressed air and meeting the requirements of various industrial applications.

The pre-filter and the post-filter cooperate with each other.

Pre-filters and post-filters work together in the air compressor system to improve the quality and purity of the output air. Pre-filters initially filter and protect the dryer; post-filters further improve the quality of compressed air to meet the high air quality requirements of the textile, electronics and pharmaceutical industries.

Maintenance and care
Pre-filter: needs to be cleaned or replaced regularly to maintain its filtering effect.

Post-filter: Because of its higher filtering accuracy, the maintenance cycle is relatively long, so regular cleaning is sufficient
