Things to consider when designing an air compressor room
1. Location and building requirements
Location
Try to choose an independent area with high terrain and good ventilation, away from office areas and flammable and explosive places. It is recommended to reserve a 1.5×1.5m hoisting port when setting up multi-storey factories on the second floor and above to ensure that the floor load is ≥750kg/m².

Building specifications
The wall must meet the F30 fire protection standard, the floor should be painted with anti-static epoxy floor paint, the door width should be ≥1.2m and open outwards, the window effective ventilation area should be ≥2.8㎡, the floor height should be ≥4m, and the distance between the equipment and the wall should be ≥1.45m.

2. Ventilation system
The air compressor generates a lot of heat when working, so ventilation is a key factor in extending the service life of compressed air equipment. Ensure that most of the heat generated during the compression process is removed and will not be recycled back into the air compressor room.

Ventilation design
According to the principle of "low in and high out", a 0.5mm dust screen is set at the air inlet and an axial flow fan is installed at the exhaust port. The heat recovery system can reduce energy consumption by 38%. The number of air duct elbows shall not exceed 2 and the length shall be less than 4.6m.

If there is a group of compressors in the air compressor room, the ventilation requirements of the air compressor units shall be added together to determine the total ventilation required.

3. Air intake
Air compressor room needs a sufficient air intake source. The recommended air inlet size can be found in the air compressor manual. If there are multiple air compressor units, a larger opening is required, or a separate opening is set for each device. The air inlet should be equipped with a thermostatically controlled baffle that can be opened and closed automatically according to the temperature.

4. Auxiliary equipment
Determine the best location for the dryer, pump, and aluminum air compressor pipeline. The post-processing equipment is installed in the order of "air compressor → air cooler → air tank → air dryer".

There are many factors to consider when designing air compressor room. When installing the air compressor equipment, you can communicate fully with the manufacturer, and ask the manufacturer's engineer for on-site guidance if necessary. Reasonable design not only improves the operating efficiency of the air compressor but also extends its service life.
